Barcelona's mild, Mediterranean climate combined with its incredible seaside location makes this city a favorite amongst beach-goers from around the world. Many of Spain's Mediterranean destinations are high on coastal tourism and low on everything else, while Barcelona serves up a perfect combination of seaside relaxation and big city attractions and culture... all in one place!
The city's most convenient beaches, Platja de Sant Sebastia and Platja de Barceloneta, are located between Port Vell and Port Olimpic and are easily reached via bus, metro or short walk from anywhere in the old part of the city.
Moving further north up the coast past Port Olimpic are Platja Nova Icària, Platja del Bogatell, Platja Mar Bella and Platja Mar Bella Nova, all of which are accessible from the city center via bus, metro or car.
